Description

Here is an amazing party-pleaser – a one-pot chicken with sweet and sour sauce recipe. Make this impressive recipe when you have guests coming over for a special occasion. The balance of flavors in this chicken, with its sweet and sour sauce, will brighten up your day (or night).

Instructions
  1. Prepare your ingredients first. Start by peeling and slicing the onion. Next, chop the parsley. Peel and chop the garlic.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large, non-stick pan on high heat. Place the chicken breasts into the pan and sear them on both sides. Season them with salt and pepper while in the pan. Baste the chicken with the hot oil from the pan as you cook it. Remove the golden chicken from the pan and set aside.
  3. Add the butter to the same pan, ensuring it doesn’t burn. Add the onion to the pan. Add the garlic once the onions are translucent.
  4. After a minute or so, add the chicken pieces back to the pan.
  5. Add in the wine and water, as well as the parsley. Season with salt and pepper and simmer the liquid until the alcohol taste has cooked out. When the liquid is boiling, add half the brown sugar to the pan. Cover the pan and simmer everything gently for about 10 minutes. Once the sauce has reduced, add the other half of the sugar.
  6. Simmer the sauce until it has reached the right consistency, and add in some butter and fresh parsley. Remove the stalks of rosemary before serving this dish.
